...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR NORTH AND WEST FACING SHORES OF NIIHAU KAUAI OAHU MOLOKAI AND NORTH FACING SHORES OF MAUI... .The moderate-period northwest (340 deg) swell that filled in overnight came in much larger than predicted. Therefore, a High Surf Advisory has been issued for most north and west facing shores of the smaller islands through this afternoon. Anticipate the swell dropping below advisory level by tonight. * WHAT...Surf of 12 to 16 feet along north facing shores, and 8 to 12 feet along west facing shores. * WHERE...North and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai, as well as north facing shores of Maui. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening. * IMPACTS...Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous. |
