Issued By: NWS Wakefield VA on 2026-04-12 @ 1:23 pm
Headline: Special Weather Statement issued April 12 at 2:23PM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA
Description: The combination of low relative humidity values in the 25 to 30
percent range, dry fuels, and SW winds gusting up to 20-25 mph
will result in an increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires
Monday across much of central and eastern Virginia, including the
Richmond Metro area, the Virginia Piedmont, and inland portions
of the Virginia Northern Neck.

Residents are urged to exercise caution handling any potential
ignition source, including machinery, cigarettes, and matches. Be
sure to properly discard all smoking materials. Any dry grasses
and tree litter that ignite will have the potential to spread
quickly.

Virginia residents are reminded that open burning is prohibited
before 4 PM EDT each day through April 30th.

Issued By: NWS Morristown TN on 2026-04-12 @ 1:12 pm
Headline: Special Weather Statement issued April 12 at 2:12PM EDT by NWS Morristown TN
Description: Relative humidity values of around 30 to 35 percent and wind gusts
of 20 to 25 mph are expected from late morning through the early
evening hours. When combined with the recent lack of rainfall,
this will lead to elevated fire danger across the area.

Residents and visitors are urged to properly dispose of cigarette
butts, matches, and any other flammable items in appropriate
containers. Additionally, exercise caution if operating any
equipment that could create sparks and keep vehicles off of dry
grass. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could
easily ignite and spread fire quickly. Also, remember to obey
local burn bans and refer to local officials.
