* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, South bank of the Cottonwood River 1 mile
south of Emporia floods.
At 23.0 feet, North bank of the Cottonwood River begins to flood.
Lowland flooding occurs along the Cottonwood River from Plymouth
to Neosho Rapids.
At 24.0 feet, Highway K 99 on the south bank floods.
At 25.5 feet, Highway K 99 on the north bank begins to flood.
At 26.5 feet, Water reaches low steel of Old K 99 bridge over the
Cottonwood River.

Description: At 650 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles west of
Weskan, or 12 miles east of Cheyenne Wells, moving southeast at 30
mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and
flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and
streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Heavy rains from Thursday night have left areas soils
saturated to the point any additional rainfall will become
excess runoff especially in areas south of the highway 400
corridor. Additional rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is expected
between 7 pm and midnight, leading to scattered flash
flooding in the watch area.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Walnut River at Arkansas City.

* WHEN...Until tomorrow evening.

* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Considerable flooding of farmland can be
expected. There is considerable flooding upstream along the west
bank of the Walnut River. On the east bank, the ground slopes
upward so that only about a 300 foot wide strip of land would be
affected.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1:15 PM CDT Friday the stage was 18.4 feet and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.7
feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage
tomorrow morning.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

floods.
At 30.0 feet, Highway 152 floods 0.75 miles west of La Cygne. If
Middle Creek is also flooding Highway 152, the only route into or
out of La Cygne will be the County Road, or 4th Street, leading
north from La Cygne.
